Hunt County Crime Stoppers

Crime Does not Pay, But Crime Stoppers Does

About

Crime Stoppers is a group of concerned citizens that has joined with law enforcement to fight crime. There are three parts to Crime Stoppers: the Board, Law Enforcement, and the Media. Crime Stoppers’ board members  operate the program.  Law enforcement investigate the tips. The media gives the information about unsolved crimes to the public.

No matter which method you choose to use, the process works the same. Once your crime information is given you receive a unique tipster id number. If you forget your tipster id number Crime Stoppers will not be able to give you a reward. You can use this tipster id number to check the status of your tip or  to add more information to your tip.

Crime Stoppers forwards the tip information to the agency investigating the crime.  The agency then follows-up on the tip information. If this information leads directly to a felony arrest, the recovery of property stolen during a felony, or the arrest of a fugitive felon you could be issued a reward.

Crime Stoppers never wants to know your name, phone number, or e-mail address. We only want crime information. Whichever way you choose to tip you will remain anonymous.

Crime Stoppers is funded by probationary fees paid by convicted criminals. These fees fund the Rewards with a small portion going to the day to day operations of the program. This is one of the most cost effective programs in law enforcemen. The tip information provided through crime stoppers tips saves investigators time and tax payers money. Crime Stoppers also helps by getting criminals off the street before someone else becomes a victim.
